The NINJA TENT is more than a sleeping tent

Backpacker-Friendly

The NINJA TENT is for backpackers who love long journeys and adventures.

Spacious awning room

You can comfortably spend long days in the tent, whether on long trails or during extended camping. To create a spacious and easy-to-use vestibule, we designed a trapezoidal floor that expands toward the front and added an entrance on the long side. Additionally, the unique frame structure raises the entrance side, providing ample head clearance.

Sleeps up to two people

Wide entrance

This spacious tent provides ample space to take in the landscape or just simply relax while guaranteeing privacy. If you want to enjoy your meals outdoors, extend the awning on the tent’s front flap to create a larger space.

Wide entrance

The large opening is designed with consideration for spending time in the vestibule. There is plenty of headroom, ensuring no stress while entering or exiting. The floor area is just right for one person and spacious enough for two to sleep comfortably.

Wind control

Large mesh panels

The tent comes with unique ventilation technology to control wind and air flow by easily adjusting the rear flysheet from the comfort of your tent.

Large mesh panels

The inner tent is equipped with large mesh panels on both the front and back. The hanging design prevents heat buildup between the flysheet and the inner tent.

Light yet comfortable

Unique material

By carefully selecting our materials, we are able to produce this tent that is lightweight yet durable. The pole is made up of DAC NSL Featherlight™. Both sides of the flysheet and inner tent’s floor fabric are made up of silicon-coated nylon.

Maximum utility

Inside, there are six large utility pockets and six gear loops on the ceiling. There’s also a rear access zipper, creating a well-equipped indoor space.

Practical Innovation

The NINJA Storage Case

The NINJA TENT reflects our “Ninja” style: smooth, discreet and quick. You can pack your tent quickly and easily in a unique rollable and foldable storage bag. It’s easy to pack up the tent by using its pole as the central axis. When packed, the tent takes up 45 x 15 centimeters and is practical for bikepacking.

Unique rain drainage system

To prevent water from pooling at the front of the flysheet during rain, an innovative drainage mechanism has been incorporated. You can comfortably spend time with the flysheet raised even in light rain.

DESIGNER'S VOICE

The inspiration for developing the NINJA TENT goes back four years to 2016, when we moved the production of the NINJA TARP to Vietnam. The factory we found was a top-tier one that had been leading the industry for years. Many lightweight tents from renowned American brands were being produced on their production line. I didn't think they would take on a small order from a Japanese company, but our passion must have reached them, as they gladly accepted the production of the NINJA TARP. This was truly a delightful event.

At that time, I vowed in my heart, "One day, I will develop a tent with them." This was both an ambition as a designer and a way to give back to them.

The tent development started with that sentiment. Our goal was simply to create a tent that I would want to use myself and one that was light, durable, spacious, and comfortable! We set out to achieve every whim we desired in a tent. The process, starting from sketches to creating a 1/5 scale model and then a full-size prototype, was fresh and challenging, and I was so absorbed in development that I forgot to eat and sleep. What I enjoyed the most was creating the full-size model. The thrill of creating a space that matched what I had envisioned in the scale model and CAD was incredible.

However, there was a pitfall. The first factory sample that was completed was noticeably smaller than what we had specified. Why would the world’s best tent manufacturer make such a mistake? Feeling slightly disillusioned, I flew over there, set up the tent in front of them, and showed them the measurements. I wanted to prove my correctness and their mistake.

But, surprisingly, the dimensions were as specified!

The issue was due to climate differences. Japan was in its dry winter, while the factory was in a hot and humid summer climate. It turned out that samples made at the factory would shrink by about 5cm when brought to Japan. Although understandable considering the stretchability of nylon fabric, it was shocking to see in person.

There were many other fine adjustments, and we had to revise the launch plan multiple times, imposing a lot of trouble and costs on the factory, turning it into a project far from being a way to repay them. Yes, the NINJA TENT was a whimsical product born from the typical pattern where "when a designer gets carried away, the people around them suffer."

For those who get their hands on the NINJA TENT, please do feel the whims of the designer.
