Mountains and the city
A simple 16L backpack you can use without hesitation

For those who like to walk light
ALK CONCEPT
ALK is a series designed around the concept of “in the mountains or in the city,” aiming to be just the right backpack. It offers comfortable carry and practical usability for walking anytime and anywhere, while remaining lightweight and durable.
ALK 16 FEATURE
ALK16 is a daypack characterized by its simple design. The essential features for hiking are compactly organized. It’s a model you can use without hesitation, from everyday use to day hikes.
A light and simple design
FITTING
It uses the same wide shoulder harness as the ZENN backpack. The pack’s load is distributed across the entire ribcage, providing remarkable stability. It reduces bounce while walking and also lessens strain on the shoulders.
MAIN ACCESS
It features a water-resistant zipper and a quick-access design that opens wide toward the body side. This makes it convenient when commuting on trains or taking breaks in the mountains.
TOP POCKET
The top pocket features the large capacity inherited from BUDDY. It is ideal for storing items you want quick access to, such as snacks or gloves. The water-resistant zipper helps protect your gear from rain. A key hook is included inside.
SIDE POCKETS
Sized to hold a 500 ml PET bottle. Designed with a depth that makes it easy to access while preventing items from falling out. Once you get used to it, it can be operated while wearing the pack.
INSIDE POCKET
The bottom pocket can be reached easily without putting down the bag. It is convenient for storing regular backpack covers sold in stores.
HARNESS POCKETS
The shoulder harness includes a zip pocket that can hold a smartphone or a 500 ml PET bottle, allowing smooth access even while on the move.
FRONT INSIDE POCKET
The inner pocket on the front panel is ideal for storing items you want to keep on hand, such as rainwear.
MAIN FABRIC
The main fabric uses strong yet lightweight ROBIC 66 nylon with a polycarbonate coating on the surface. It resists water and dirt, making it easy to maintain.
ATTACHMENT RINGS
There are rings at the lower ends of the harness for attaching a chest bag. SWITCH, PATHFINDER, and FOCUS can be used as front bags.
REMOVABLE BACK PANEL
The back panel, which tends to get dirty from sweat, can be removed for washing. When cleaning, do not use a washing machine. Hand wash in lukewarm water and dry in the shade.
DESIGNER'S VOICE
The name ALK comes from the Japanese word “aruku,” meaning “to walk.” Walking is a fundamental human activity and the foundation of outdoor adventures. That will likely never change. Yet in today’s rapidly advancing information society, the reality is that we no longer need to move as much as before. Walking as a form of movement has always gone hand in hand with outward curiosity—perhaps what we call a spirit of adventure. In a time when information was scarce, people probably walked farther and explored more.
Thinking about that, we felt inspired to create a product that supports everyone’s desire to walk. A backpack that lets you go anywhere, anytime. That idea sparked the designer’s spirit.
The development process, however, was surprisingly smooth—perhaps the smoothest we’ve ever had. That’s because we had already created and tested countless prototypes through the development of RUSH and ZENN, while steadily working on BUDDY-derived models as well. Drawing on years of backpack development experience, the process moved forward quickly.
That said, there were still challenges. The most difficult was the back-side opening design of ALK30. We repeatedly tested different frame and back panel structures to improve usability without sacrificing carrying comfort. The design of the front panel was another challenge. We wanted it to be compatible with ZENN optional parts while still giving it a distinct identity. After much trial and error, it ended up looking like a relative of ZENN—which, in the end, felt just right.
There are many more stories behind the development, but as the tagline suggests, ALK is designed to be easy to use both in the mountains and in the city—a backpack that makes you want to keep walking, anytime and anywhere.
So throw on your ALK and start walking with curiosity wide open.
